EMP's manufacturing process is changing the value of production through innovative automated material handling, which drives high-volume parts production. EMP's main manufacturing center is in Escanaba, MI and has over 250,000 square feet of manufacturing capacity, with highly integrated automation cells, including over 200 CNC machines.

CNC Turning Centers
  • EMP houses (54) CNC Turning Centers, Lathes and VTL's in our Plant 1 Facility
  • Lathe capacity ranging from 1.0" to 24" diameters and lengths up to 59.0". EMP will always consider investing in equipment if our current equipment does not meet our customer's needs.
  • Utilize the Latest Technology in PDC and CBN cutting inserts along with Thermally stable CNC machine designs with thermal compensation to turn and bore to tolerances of +/-.0002.
  • Utilize In-machine probing to precisely control critical features.
  • Extensive experience producing cradle bearing features in hydraulic components.
  • Hobbing Capabilities.
  • Many of our lathes are paired with multiple Machining centers, high pressure washers, assembly equipment and robots organized into machining cells. This automation along with part probing allows one operator to run as many as (6) CNC Machines and results in machined and assembled parts produced at the highest level of precision for the lowest price to our customers.
  • EMP continues to invest in High Quality Lathes that employ the latest technology available. (7) Okuma and Mori Sieki 2, 4 & 6 Axis Turning Centers purchased in 2015.
Horizontal Machining Centers
  • EMP's Plant 1 Facility houses (89) Horizontal Machining Centers arranged in work cells with up to 6 machines per cell.
  • HMC's ranging from 300mm Tables with 40 Taper 16K spindles for high Speed Aluminum machining up to 630mm Table HMC's with 50 Taper high torque spindles for Heavy duty machining of larger parts.
  • Our current processes range from Highly complex Fuel System parts requiring 90 cutting tools with 5-Axis machining in Ductile Iron, down to de-flashing operations with 3 tools on Aluminum Automotive Components.
  • Full 5th axis capabilities with High Pressure Coolant, Spindle Load Monitor, Broken Tool Sensor and Tool Life monitoring with In-Machine Part Probing.
  • Capable of Milling surfaces to a flatness as low as .0003", machining bores to +/-. 0002", deep hole drilling.
  • Processes and cells are designed to allow for High flexibility and quick changeover.
  • We utilize the HMC's to perform as much deburring on parts as possible to reduce human variables and have the most repeatable and robust deburring process possible.
  • Many of our HMC's are paired with multiple Turning centers, high pressure washers, assembly equipment and robots organized into machining cells. This automation along with part probing allows one operator to run as many as (6) CNC Machines and results in machined and assembled parts produced at the highest level of precision for the lowest price to our customers.
Vertical Machining Centers
  • EMP Plant 1 Houses (17 ) VMC's arranged in a variety of work cells ranging from 3 machine manually operator cell's for low volume parts to automated cells with up to 4 machines per cell.
  • VMC's Ranging from 30 Taper Robo-Drills, 40 Taper Haas to 50 Taper Mori Seiki VMC's.
  • We use our VMC's to perform a variety of standard machining operations such as milling, drilling and tapping and tapping and also utilize them as Single Pass Honing machines.
  • 4-Axis capabilities.
  • Most of our VMC's are used in our manual cells paired with 1 or 2 other CNC's in machining cells. These cell layouts allow one operator to run as many as (3) CNC Machines to reduce unit price.
